The Difference Between Flag Hoisting on 26 January and 15 August:

Republic day 2023: In India, the tricolor is hoisted on these two special days, 26 January and 15 August. We told you why the Prime Minister does not hoist the tricolor on 26 January. Now let us understand what is the difference between hoisting the flag on Independence Day and Republic Day. On the occasion of Independence Day, the flag is pulled from the bottom by a rope and taken up, then unfurled and hoisted. This process is Flag hoisting. On the other side, the flag is raised and unfurled on Republic Day even while it is still tied overhead. The Constitution refers to it as “flag unfurling.”

What the Difference of Location between Both Days:

The Prime Minister hoists the flag on 15 August and the President hoists the tricolor on 26 January. One difference is the place of celebrating both. The flag hoisting ceremony of Independence Day takes place from the Red Fort in Delhi. On the other hand, on the occasion of Republic Day 2023, the tricolor is hoisted on the Rajpath of Delhi.

Why doesn’t the Prime Minister hoist the Flag?

Due to the absence of a constitution at the time of our nation’s independence on August 15, 1947, the Prime Minister of India was in charge. On this date, Red Fort resident and Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru raised the flag for the first time. Since then, the Prime Minister has raised the flag from the Red Fort on August 15. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who took office as president on January 26, 1950, was also the nation’s first citizen at the time. Because of this, on January 26th, ever since, the President has raised the tricolor.
